Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker delivered the decisive blow in overtime Sunday night, splitting the uprights on a 40-yard field goal to give the Chiefs a 33-30 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Patrick Mahomes and Kenneth Walker III set up that winning kick with a clutch late drive, capping a dramatic overtime finish that kept Kansas City unbeaten at 2-0.
Mahomes was outstanding throughout the contest. He finished with 382 passing yards and three touchdowns. Walker added 117 rushing yards, while tight end Travis Kelce turned in a vintage performance with nine receptions for 101 yards and a score.

Colts Keep It Close Despite Slow Start
Indianapolis struggled to find its footing early, but quarterback Daniel Jones kept the Colts competitive. Jones threw for 210 yards, adding one touchdown and one interception. Running back Jonathan Taylor also contributed heavily, rushing for 92 yards and two touchdowns. However, the Colts fell to 0-2 on the season.
The game remained tight throughout the fourth quarter. Both teams traded scores, and neither side could pull away decisively. As a result, the contest headed into overtime with the score level.
Controversial Fumble Call Extends the Drama
The overtime period produced one of the more unusual sequences of the young NFL season. Butker first kicked a 31-yard field goal to give Kansas City the lead. The Colts responded quickly, with Jones launching a deep pass to wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, who had beaten cornerback L’Jarius Snead.
Treadwell appeared to bobble the ball as he hit the ground. He stood up after completing the catch, but the ball came loose and the Chiefs recovered it. Officials initially ruled it a fumble. After a review, however, they determined Treadwell had gone down by contact before losing possession. The ruling gave Indianapolis new life.
The Colts could not capitalize on the opportunity with a touchdown. Instead, kicker Spencer Shrader connected on a 38-yard field goal to tie the game and force another Chiefs possession.
Mahomes and Walker Seal the Win
Kansas City took over with 3:11 remaining in overtime. The Chiefs handed off to Walker on three consecutive carries to push the ball to midfield. Then Mahomes delivered the backbreaker — a 22-yard pass to Walker that moved the chains deep into Colts territory.
That gain set up Butker’s game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired. The Chiefs improved to 2-0, while Indianapolis dropped to 0-2 after a painful overtime defeat.
