Award-winning visual effects studio Weta FX has announced a major partnership with Taiwan’s Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) to establish Taiwan as a leading hub for AI-driven screen production across Asia. The collaboration brings together Weta FX’s world-class VFX expertise and global industry network with Taiwan’s advanced technology capabilities and creative talent pool.
Partnership Launches at TCCF in Taipei
The two organizations will formally launch the partnership on November 6 at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) in Taipei. The announcement will take place on the festival’s main stage immediately after the opening ceremony. TAICCA chair Sue Wang will appear alongside three senior Weta FX executives: CEO Daniel Seah, Chief Technology Officer Kimball Thurston, and VFX supervisor Sheldon Stopsack.

The partnership covers three core areas: joint investment, AI research and development, and industry talent training. However, specific details of the arrangement are being held back until the official launch event.
Connecting Taiwan’s Talent to Global Productions
The deal aims to connect Taiwanese technologists and creative professionals with opportunities across the worldwide screen industry. Taiwan brings strong AI and advanced technology capabilities to the table. Meanwhile, Weta FX contributes its VFX track record, deep production experience, and extensive global network.
For Weta FX CEO Daniel Seah, the partnership also carries personal significance. Seah grew up in Taiwan. The studio has already been strengthening its ties with the island, including an appearance at the Taoyuan International Film and Technology Forum in August.
TAICCA’s Broader Mission
The collaboration fits naturally within TAICCA’s wider mandate. Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture established TAICCA in 2019 to support Taiwanese content across film, television, animation, publishing, comics, music, gaming, and the performing arts. The agency supports projects from development through production, distribution, and international marketing. Its tools include investment funding, co-production schemes, and overseas partnerships.
TAICCA recently concluded TTXC Innovations, a market platform designed to bring cultural content and technology to market. The platform brought together creators, tech developers, investors, buyers, and distributors in a shared environment. This new Weta FX partnership reflects a similar approach to connecting industry players around emerging technologies.
