Apple TV+ and Legendary Television are in talks to bring back Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for a third season, but the show could look significantly different from what fans have seen so far.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Season 3 would feature a new showrunner and a fresh team of writers. The season would also introduce new Titans from Legendary’s Monsterverse. However, it remains unclear whether characters from the first two seasons would return.

Multiple individuals have already been approached about taking over the showrunner role, the source added.
Where the Series Stands Now
The show first launched on Apple TV+ in 2023. Season 2 followed in February 2026. Chris Black and Matt Faction originally created the series, with Black serving as showrunner and executive producer on Season 2.
Other executive producers on Season 2 include Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures, alongside Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Lawrence Trilling, and Andrew Colville. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the Japanese company that owns the Godzilla character.
Spinoff Series Still Moving Forward
Meanwhile, a spinoff series starring Wyatt Russell remains in development. Russell plays Colonel Lee Shaw, a character who appeared in both previous seasons. The spinoff follows Shaw on a mission set in 1984, as he works to stop the Soviet Union from unleashing a powerful new Titan.
Joby Harold will serve as showrunner on the spinoff. Harold is also developing several other projects within the broader Legendary Monsterverse. In addition to Russell, the spinoff cast includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen, and Stana Katic.
A Franchise in Expansion
The Monsterverse continues to grow across both film and television. The Monarch series has helped extend the franchise’s reach on streaming. A potential third season, even with a new creative team, would further expand the universe on Apple TV+.
No official announcement has been made yet regarding Season 3. Talks between Apple TV+ and Legendary Television are still ongoing.
