A weapons threat prompted Halifax police to place Halifax West High School under lockdown on Thursday, before officers cleared the building and lifted the alert later that afternoon.
The incident began shortly before 12:30 p.m., when school administrators received a call from a man claiming to be on school property with a weapon. Police confirmed the details in a news release, noting that staff notified authorities immediately after receiving the call.

School Locked Down While Police Searched the Building
Officers responded quickly and placed the school under lockdown while they conducted a thorough search of the premises. After completing the search, police found no evidence to support the threat. As a result, authorities lifted the lockdown at 3:45 p.m.
Despite clearing the school, police said they do not believe an ongoing threat exists. However, officers planned to maintain a presence at the school following the incident. Police stated the continued presence aimed to offer reassurance to students, staff and families.
