York Regional Police are appealing for public help after a 60-year-old woman from Richmond Hill suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run collision in Vaughan, Ontario. Officers discovered the woman unresponsive two days after the incident, raising urgent concerns about the driver who fled the scene.
Woman Struck While Walking to Work
The collision happened on Sunday, October 4, at around 8:30 p.m. The woman had just stepped off a bus at the northeast corner of Pine Valley Drive and Major Mackenzie Drive. She was walking northbound along Pine Valley Drive on her way to her job as a live-in caregiver when a northbound vehicle struck her.

The driver did not stop. Police say they believe the driver would have known they hit a person or an object. Officers were not called to the scene until Tuesday afternoon, at approximately 2 p.m., after someone found the woman unresponsive near the same intersection.
Police Urge Driver to Come Forward
Investigators are now urging the driver to seek legal advice and turn themselves in. Police also issued a clear warning to anyone who may be helping the driver avoid detection.
Concealing, repairing or altering a vehicle to hide evidence of a collision may constitute a criminal offence. This warning applies to anyone who performs or arranges bodywork, paintwork or mechanical repairs intended to cover up damage linked to the crash.
As a result, anyone assisting the driver in this way could also face criminal charges, police confirmed.
Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage Sought
York Regional Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. In addition, anyone with dash-cam footage recorded in the area between approximately 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on October 4 is asked to contact investigators if they have not already done so.
