Biplane on Training Flight Crashes Shortly After Takeoff
According to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, the aircraft was an amateur-built sporting biplane. It departed from the Fergus airport around 10:00 a.m. for an aerobatic training flight. The crash occurred just minutes after takeoff.
OPP confirmed that two people were aboard the plane at the time of the crash. Both individuals died at the scene. The TSB noted that both occupants were experienced pilots.
First responders successfully put out the fire before it could spread further. OPP cleared the scene around noon on Saturday, roughly 26 hours after the initial emergency call.
