Peacock is set to launch a new comedy series called Dig, created by the team behind Parks and Recreation and The Good Place. Amy Poehler and Michael Schur developed the show together, with Schur’s wife, screenwriter J. J. Philbin, serving as writer and producer. The series premieres on November 23.
A Discovery That Changes Everything
The ten-episode series draws from Kate Myers’ 2023 novel Excavations. It follows four women researchers working at a remote archaeological dig site in Greece. Their expedition takes a dramatic turn when they unearth a priceless artifact that, by all accounts, should not exist.

According to the show’s official logline, the team uncovers a long-buried secret with the potential to rewrite history. As a result, they find themselves at the center of a high-stakes international conspiracy.
Cast and Characters
Poehler stars as Elise, the group’s lead excavator. Elise recruits the other three women into a scheme to hide their discovery from Neville, the dig’s self-serving head archaeologist, played by Hugh Laurie. Their plan quickly spirals beyond their control.
Geraldine Viswanathan, known for Bad Education, plays Dylan, a researcher returning to the site after a five-year absence. Fina Strazza of Paper Girls portrays Patty, Neville’s naïve undergraduate assistant. Meanwhile, Antonia Thomas, best known for The Good Doctor, plays Clare, the expedition’s dedicated preservationist.
The trailer also features several recurring characters. Jason Mantzoukas appears as Lambros, a local shop owner with a sideline in looting. Brennan Lee Mulligan plays Marcus “M.R.” Robertson Jr., a wealthy archaeology enthusiast. In addition, Max Greenfield of New Girl guest stars as Andrew, an art dealer, while Dan Bucatinsky from Scandal appears as Fritz, a New York City museum director.
What to Expect
Peacock released the official trailer ahead of the November 23 premiere. The show blends comedy with conspiracy, placing its four central characters in increasingly dangerous territory after their accidental find. With Poehler and Schur reuniting after their earlier successes, Dig arrives with considerable creative pedigree behind it.
