Two men are recovering in hospital with serious injuries following a shooting early Thursday morning on Hamilton Mountain.
Hamilton Police say officers were called to the area of Upper James Street and Jameston Avenue—just west of the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway—around 1:50 a.m.
When they arrived, police found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were rushed to hospital where they remain in serious but non-life-threatening condition, according to a police news release.
The Hamilton Police Service’s Shooting Response Team has taken over the investigation. Officers say a black SUV was seen fleeing the scene shortly after the shooting. It remains unclear how many individuals were in the vehicle.
Residents and business owners on Upper James Street between Hester Street and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway are being asked to check their surveillance footage between 1:45 and 2:00 a.m. for any signs of suspicious activity or sightings of the black SUV.
