NBC’s Today show host Savannah Guthrie has made a renewed public plea for information about her mother, Nancy, who disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona home in February and has not been found since. Authorities classified Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance as a presumed kidnapping, and the case remains unresolved months later.
A Daughter’s Emotional Appeal
Guthrie recently shared a drawing on Instagram made by her young daughter. The image showed an umbrella, raindrops, and the handwritten words: “I know it might not seem like it, but I really need my mommy.” Guthrie wrote in her caption that the drawing “says so much about how I feel.”

In the same post, Guthrie addressed the painful reality her family faces daily. “The world goes on, things appear ‘normal’ — as we try to keep going and be strong, especially for our young kids — but it’s not and it never will be,” she wrote. She named family members Annie, Tommy, Cam, Kristine, and Mike, along with her mother’s grandchildren, saying the family “aches” for Nancy and “cries out for answers.”
Guthrie ended her message with a direct appeal to the public. “We need someone to help us, tell us what you know,” she wrote. “Our mom was a light in this world. The reward is still available. Please. We are begging you.” She also thanked supporters and asked others to join the family in prayer.
Months of Anguish and Public Pleas
This is not the first time Guthrie has spoken publicly about her mother’s case. In August, she marked six months since Nancy’s disappearance with a heartfelt post. “We have lived every moment, every breath, and every heartbeat in agony and despair ever since,” she wrote at the time.
A month earlier, Guthrie posted a video on Instagram directed at her mother’s kidnappers. “It has been months since our mom was taken from us,” she said. “Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. We have done our part, and we will never stop looking for her.”
How the Disappearance Unfolded
Nancy went missing on February 1 after she failed to appear at her regular Sunday church service. The following day, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department declared her disappearance a presumed kidnapping. Investigators found concerning evidence at her Tucson home that prompted the classification.
The FBI joined the search shortly after. Authorities initially offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery. The reward later increased to $200,000, and then rose again to $1 million on February 24. Despite these efforts, Nancy’s whereabouts remain unknown.
The family continues to urge anyone with information to come forward. The $1 million reward remains available for tips that lead to her recovery.
