Two Toronto police officers suffered injuries early Thursday morning after a vehicle fleeing a crime scene collided with their patrol car. The incident occurred around 2:29 a.m. near Islington Avenue and Elmhurst Drive.
Officers Respond to Break-In Call
Officers initially responded to a report of someone breaking into a parked vehicle in the area. While they investigated, they spotted two vehicles leaving the scene at speed.

One of those vehicles then struck a police cruiser. As a result, two officers sustained injuries and both received hospital treatment. Authorities described their injuries as non-life-threatening.
Driver Arrested, Second Vehicle Escapes
The driver of the vehicle that hit the cruiser was arrested at the scene. Police also took that driver to hospital for treatment. Toronto paramedics transported the individual to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, officers briefly pursued the second vehicle. However, it escaped the area and remains outstanding. Police have not yet located that vehicle or identified its occupants.
Investigation Ongoing
Toronto police confirmed the investigation is active and continuing. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police directly.
The collision highlights the risks officers face when responding to overnight calls. In this case, what began as a routine break-in report quickly escalated into a dangerous situation. Fortunately, neither officer suffered life-threatening harm.
