It has now been three days since three masked gunmen opened fire inside a Scarborough pub late on Friday night. The Toronto police continue their investigation, with officers visibly present in the area on Sunday morning, maintaining a high-profile presence as they search for answers.
As the manhunt persists, Toronto police told CTV News that there is still no new information about the suspects who shot and injured 12 people. During a press conference on Saturday afternoon, Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw described the incident as “an incredibly brazen act of violence,” adding that the investigation remains “very fresh and very active.”
What We Know:
The shooting occurred at Piper Arms, a newly opened pub near the Scarborough Town Centre, which was celebrating its opening night. Around 10:40 p.m., three armed suspects entered the venue—one carrying an assault rifle and the other two with handguns—before opening fire “indiscriminately.”
Of the 12 victims injured, six suffered gunshot wounds to their arms and legs. The others were hurt by flying glass but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the attack was targeted or linked to any other recent gun violence in the city. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage to establish a clearer timeline of events.

It remains unclear whether the shooting was specifically targeted or connected to any other shootings in Toronto. There has been speculation regarding a possible link to the tow truck industry. While Mayor Olivia Chow refrained from speculating, Supt. Paul MacIntyre confirmed that the possibility is being explored.
Despite releasing minimal information about the suspects—who were masked and possibly fled in a silver car—Toronto police have not provided additional details. Chief Demkiw assured the public that the investigation will leave no stone unturned as they continue their search for the responsible individuals.

Political leaders across Toronto have strongly condemned the shooting and vowed to take action. Mayor Chow expressed her concern, calling the attack “deeply troubling,” especially considering the number of people hurt.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford also condemned the shooting as “a brazen act of violence that will not be tolerated,” expressing his full support for the Toronto police as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Scarborough Centre Councillor Michael Thompson, speaking about the incident, stated that the shooting has left the community deeply shaken. “Nothing like this has ever happened before here,” he told CP24. “It has a tremendous impact on the views and feelings of people in the community.”
As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information, including potential eyewitnesses, to come forward.
