Investigation Launched After Victim Falls Ill
York Regional Police (YRP) were first alerted to the case on December 16 when a victim reported experiencing significant health problems after receiving treatment at a medical spa located in Aurora. The spa operates in the area of Hollandview Trail and McMaster Avenue, situated west of Bayview Avenue and north of Wellington Street East.
Upon further investigation, police discovered that the suspect had allegedly been impersonating licensed medical practitioners and issuing prescriptions that were not suited to the victim’s actual medical condition. Authorities believe the fraudulent prescriptions may have contributed to the victim’s deteriorating health.
Suspect Faces Multiple Charges
The suspect, identified as Georges Tsakiris, 65, of the Township of King, has been arrested and is facing a range of charges, including:
- Criminal negligence causing bodily harm
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Personation with intent to gain advantage
- Forgery (two counts)
- Uttering forged documents (two counts)
- Possession of identity information for fraudulent purposes (two counts)
- Making a document without authority
At this time, none of these charges have been proven in court.
Police Urge Other Potential Victims to Come Forward
Investigators suspect that there may be additional victims who received fraudulent prescriptions or treatments from the accused. Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have been affected or has relevant information to step forward.
