Chris Pratt has confirmed that his Marvel character Star-Lord will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealing that concrete steps are already underway to make it happen. The actor made the announcement during an appearance on The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast, ending months of speculation among fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
Pratt Confirms Active Plans for Star-Lord’s Return
Speaking on the podcast, Pratt described his ongoing relationship with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and co-chairman Lou D’Esposito. He said both conversations and firm action have taken place to deliver on the promise of Star-Lord’s comeback.

“I have a great relationship with Kevin and Lou, and there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise,” Pratt said. He added: “So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere.”
Pratt Previously Pitched His Own Idea to Marvel
The confirmation follows comments Pratt made earlier on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. At that time, he revealed he had already pitched Marvel Studios a personal vision for how Star-Lord could re-enter the MCU.
“I’m happy to do anything they want me to do and will,” Pratt said of Marvel. “And also, I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do. And I think it’s fucking great.” When asked directly whether he had shared that idea with Feige, Pratt confirmed he had. “I’m down to contribute any way I can to them setting up the next 10 years of storytelling,” he said. “And also, I have a pretty strong idea of how I think I could contribute to that.”
A Character with a Long MCU History
Star-Lord has appeared across six MCU films to date. These include Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The third Guardians film notably teased the character’s future. A post-credits text card in that film stated directly that Star-Lord would return.
Meanwhile, the MCU continues to expand. The next major Marvel release, Avengers: Doomsday, arrives in theaters on December 18. However, Pratt did not confirm whether Star-Lord would appear in that film or a later project.
