The Montreal Alouettes secured a dramatic second-half comeback victory over the B.C. Lions on Friday night, winning 37-30 at Percival Molson Stadium before a crowd of 22,752. The win pushed Montreal’s record to 10-2, making the Alouettes the first team in the CFL this season to clinch a playoff berth. Montreal also guaranteed itself a home postseason game, extending its unbeaten home record to seven straight wins.
Alexander Sets New CFL Touchdown Record
Quarterback Davis Alexander delivered a strong performance, completing 25 of 34 passes for 297 yards. His touchdown pass during the contest was his 25th of the season, breaking a tie with Toronto’s Chad Kelly to claim the CFL lead in that category. Alexander’s first-half accuracy was remarkable, going 11-for-11 before cooling off to complete just two of his final eight throws before the break.

Wide receiver Tyler Snead was the standout offensive contributor for Montreal, hauling in two touchdown receptions on the night. The Raleigh, North Carolina native also surpassed his previous single-season career high in receiving yards during the contest. Snead’s first score, a seven-yard reception on the opening drive, was his league-leading 10th touchdown of the season.
Lions Lead at Half Before Montreal Rallies
B.C. quarterback Nathan Rourke finished 31-for-45 for 375 yards, throwing two touchdowns but also a costly interception that proved decisive. The Lions held a 19-10 lead early in the third quarter after Rourke connected with Justin McInnis on a 35-yard touchdown strike. McInnis finished the game with 100 receiving yards and a score, while fellow receiver Jermaine Jackson also found the end zone late in the contest.
Montreal outscored B.C. 30-18 in the second half to complete the Alouettes’ Montreal comeback win. Rookie running back Liam Talbot scored his first CFL touchdown on a six-yard run after starter Travis Theis left with an injury and did not return. A 48-yard field goal from Jose Maltos Diaz then restored Montreal’s lead, before linebacker Tyrice Beverette delivered the decisive blow — intercepting Rourke and returning it 57 yards for his first CFL major. Diaz converted all three of his field goal attempts on the night.
Lions’ Winning Streak Snapped
The defeat ended B.C.’s five-game winning streak and dropped the Lions to 6-6 on the season. The 37 points allowed also marked the most B.C. had conceded since June 27. Kicker Sean Whyte kept the Lions competitive, converting five field goals, but it was not enough to overcome Montreal’s second-half surge.
Jackson’s late touchdown gave B.C. hope, but the Lions could not complete the comeback. The result also ended a four-year drought for Montreal against B.C., with the Alouettes’ previous win over the Lions dating back to September 9, 2022. Both teams meet again quickly, with the Lions hosting Montreal on Saturday, September 12.
