Goldfinch International is expanding into Bangladesh and Indonesia through two major deals focused on sports and film. The emerging-markets division of London-based entertainment financier Goldfinch has announced a proposed professional soccer league in Bangladesh and a film joint venture in Indonesia.
Bangladesh Super League and Strategic Partnership
In Bangladesh, Goldfinch International has joined forces with local firm 1CS Holdings Limited, led by Nazir Alam, along with Fablemill and Germany’s Akani Group. Together, the four parties formed the Bangladesh Strategic Partnership (BSP), a consortium designed to attract foreign investment and skills training into Bangladesh’s sports and creative sectors.

Earlier this month, BSP signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bangladesh Football Federation to explore the creation of a Bangladesh Super League. The proposed competition would combine existing clubs with regional franchises and introduce professional governance, international commercial expertise and outside investment. The consortium plans to target British and European football clubs, family offices, specialist investors and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora.
Beyond the league itself, BSP is also exploring football academies, sports facilities, athlete rehabilitation, creative skills training and sports employment opportunities. In addition, the group has opened discussions with the Bangladesh Olympic Association, the ICT Division, Startup Bangladesh and the Ministry of Youth and Sports about broader infrastructure and institutional cooperation.
“Bangladesh has extraordinary potential in sport, technology and the creative economy, particularly through the talent and aspirations of Generation Z,” said Alam, who serves as executive chairman of BSP. “The MoU with the Bangladesh Football Federation is an important first step toward building a wider ecosystem of investment, skills, employment and international collaboration.”
Separately, BSP is also considering a National Creative Economy Partnership covering international production, creative infrastructure, intellectual property and technology, with a focus on opportunities for younger Bangladeshis.
Indonesian Film Joint Venture
In Indonesia, Goldfinch has entered a joint venture partnership with Rangkai, a Jakarta-based creative company. The deal builds on an MoU that Goldfinch signed with Rangkai and the Jakarta Film Commission at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The venture combines Rangkai’s established relationships within Indonesia’s filmmaking community, its local distribution experience and its government connections with Goldfinch’s global sales network, production financing and deal-structuring expertise. The partnership will focus on community building, distribution, global sales, production and advisory work. Its primary goal is to bring Indonesian talent and stories to international buyers, partners and investors.
Rangkai CEO Redemptus Rangga Raditya said his company has spent five years building ties with Indonesian filmmakers, government bodies and audiences. “In Goldfinch we have a partner that brings the international reach and financing experience to take Indonesian stories to the world,” he said.
A Growing Global South Platform
Both deals follow a model Goldfinch International previously applied in the Gulf through a strategic partnership with Fablemill, a Gulf-based creative industries advisory led by Eman Alsabah. Supporting the wider platform is a production debt fund for emerging markets that launched in 2025 and is set to begin deploying capital in early 2027. Also involved is Vault 47, a Singapore branded entertainment studio formed in late 2025.
Phil McKenzie, co-founder and COO of Goldfinch, said the company’s role is to supply capital, structure and international relationships. “With Fablemill in the Gulf, Vault 47 in Singapore and the Commonwealth Creative Industries Alliance now reaching 56 nations, Goldfinch International is quickly becoming a genuine platform for the Global South,” he said.
In November, the Goldfinch team will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda. There, the company plans to promote the Commonwealth Creative Industries Alliance and announce further development programs. Goldfinch launched the alliance this year alongside the Commonwealth Foundation and the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network.
