Investigators have identified a 16-year-old named John J. Griffin as the suspect in a deadly school shooting at an elementary school in Bend, Oregon. The attack killed three children and a teacher, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Suspect Identified and Weapon Traced
Law enforcement officials confirmed Griffin’s identity following a thorough investigation into the shooting. According to authorities, the gun used in the attack was purchased by Griffin’s mother around the time of his birthday in August.

Police also revealed that the teenage suspect used a long gun during the attack. He fired at the school’s locked doors before gaining entry to the building.
Victims and Community Response
Four people died in total, including three children and one teacher. In addition, five people were hospitalized as a result of the shooting. The gunman also died at the scene.
Oregon Governor Kotek responded quickly to the tragedy. “This is a horrible day,” she said, offering her support to the Bend community. Meanwhile, the mayor of Bend announced plans for a vigil to honor the victims.
The shooting took place at a Silver Rail elementary school. One parent of a student at the school spoke publicly about the community’s resilience. “We will only get stronger from this,” the parent said.
Investigation Continues
