Nigella Lawson has joined The Great British Bake Off as a judge, replacing the long-serving Prue Leith for season 17. Her debut aired in the United Kingdom on Tuesday and will premiere on Netflix in the United States on Friday. Former Bake Off winner Giuseppe Dell’Anno told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that Lawson is a “nice fit with the ethos of the program.” Longtime judge Paul Hollywood also welcomed her enthusiastically. “It was lovely to see Nigella come into the tent,” Hollywood told The Guardian. “She fitted in beautifully — not just with me but with the whole team. She picked up the ‘Bake Off’ vibe straight away.”

Despite the warm reception, many fans quickly noticed a particular habit they could not ignore. Lawson’s enthusiastic bites into baked goods caught widespread attention on social media.
