Selena Gomez, the pop star and actress from “Only Murders in the Building,” is engaged to record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco.
Gomez announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday, captioning a close-up photo of her diamond ring with the words: “forever begins now.” The post also featured pictures of a romantic picnic setup and the couple smiling together. Blanco commented on the post, “Hey wait… that’s my wife.”
Numerous celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, and Julia Michaels, congratulated the couple on their engagement. Swift joked, “Yes I will be the flower girl,” while Aniston exclaimed, “HONEY!! Congratulations sweet mama!”
Gomez, 32, and Blanco, 36, have been in a relationship for about a year. They’ve collaborated on multiple songs, including Gomez’s 2023 hit “Single Soon” and the 2019 track “I Can’t Get Enough.” Gomez has described Blanco as “her absolute everything.” Blanco echoed similar sentiments in a May interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” where he praised Gomez as the “most genuine person” and expressed disbelief at his good fortune. “Every day when I walk to her, I look at myself in the mirror and think, ‘How did I get here?’” he shared.
Gomez, a former Disney star, has recently been recognized for her acting work, earning Golden Globe nominations for her performances in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and Netflix’s thriller-musical Emilia Pérez. She expressed her gratitude on Instagram, saying, “I am so grateful and honored.”
Blanco, known for his songwriting prowess, has co-written hits for artists like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, and Britney Spears. Meanwhile, Gomez’s cosmetic brand, Rare Beauty, has thrived since its launch five years ago. In September, she became one of the youngest self-made billionaires in the United States, with Bloomberg estimating her net worth at $1.3 billion.
