Toon2Tango and Mediawan Kids & Family have signed an exclusive worldwide licensing and merchandising agreement, giving Toon2Tango responsibility for managing commercial partnerships across Mediawan’s entire children’s and family content portfolio.
Toon2Tango, a German kids and family entertainment company operating under Leonine Studios and part of the broader Mediawan Group, will identify, negotiate and manage licensing deals on behalf of Mediawan Kids & Family. The arrangement covers all major product categories, including toys, games, apparel, home and living products, publishing, digital games and promotional activities.

A Combined Portfolio with Global Reach
Under the agreement, Toon2Tango will merge Mediawan Kids & Family’s extensive IP portfolio with its own productions and selected titles from Leonine Studios. Together, these properties will form a unified licensing and consumer products offering for partners worldwide.
The combined slate includes several high-profile projects. Method Animation’s reboot of “Astro Boy” features prominently, alongside the digital-first series “Wadoo” and the popular preschool series “Maddie + Triggs,” distributed by Mediawan Kids & Family. Toon2Tango also brings its own productions to the table, including the animated feature “Paluten Freedom,” based on a widely followed YouTube series, and “Niko,” drawn from an international family film franchise.
Further titles include “Agent 203,” which spans both an animated series and a feature film, and “Showtime,” Toon2Tango’s newest production, commissioned by German children’s broadcaster KiKA. In addition, the action-adventure series “Eldrador,” developed with German toy company Schleich, forms part of the pipeline currently in development.
Executives Highlight Strategic Alignment
Julien Borde, president of Mediawan Kids & Family, described the deal as a natural step for the group. “This agreement is a natural extension of the way we work as a group,” he said. “It allows us to develop a cohesive licensing strategy with a partner that already knows our properties and shares our creative culture.”
Borde also pointed to Toon2Tango’s track record. “Toon2Tango’s 25 years of experience and expertise gives our labels across France, Italy, the U.K., Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium a dedicated, agile partner to build lasting brand value for our audiences, our partners and our licensees worldwide,” he added.
Hans Ulrich Stoef, CEO of Toon2Tango, expressed confidence in the expanded role. “This agreement enables us to bring our licensing expertise to the group’s brands, supporting them from development through to market, wherever in Europe they are produced,” he said. Stoef also outlined plans for direct-to-consumer activity. “We want to build the market with a new approach via licensing partnerships and also a clear B2C focus with own fan merchandise platforms,” he noted. “Further steps are underway and we aim to create a profitable business for us and all our partners.”
Building on an Existing Partnership
The new agreement deepens a relationship that the two companies already established earlier this year. In March 2025, they signed a distribution agreement under which Mediawan Kids & Family integrated Toon2Tango’s content into its catalog.
Mediawan Kids & Family operates a pan-European production network with labels based in France, Italy, the U.K., the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The licensing deal reinforces the group’s broader strategy of creating synergies across its labels. The goal is to extend the value of its intellectual properties well beyond the screen and into consumer markets around the world.
