Nova Scotia RCMP have confirmed that a 51-year-old man from Amherst has died from injuries he suffered in an electrocution that investigators believe involved criminal activity. The man died in hospital on October 5, more than two months after the incident occurred on July 29.
Electrocution Occurred at Commercial Property
Police and first responders initially received a report of an injured man on August 2 at a commercial property along the 3000-block of Highway 321 in Oxford, Nova Scotia. Officers transported the man to hospital with injuries linked to the electrocution. RCMP confirmed the incident was not a workplace accident.

The man’s condition deteriorated over the following weeks. He died in hospital on October 5 as a direct result of the injuries he sustained on July 29. RCMP announced his death in a news release on Friday.
Investigators Suspect Foul Play
RCMP are now working alongside the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service to determine the official manner of death. Investigators believe criminality played a role in the fatal electrocution in Cumberland County. However, police stated they do not believe the public faces any risk at this time.
Authorities also confirmed that other people were present with the man when the electrocution took place. Investigators want to speak with those individuals and are actively seeking them out. Police have not yet identified or named any suspects.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Video Footage
As part of the ongoing investigation, RCMP are asking the public for help. Officers are looking for dashcam footage or surveillance video recorded in the area between July 29 and August 2. Any footage from that period could prove valuable to the investigation.
