A long-serving Vancouver police officer and the founder of a well-known children’s charity faces serious criminal charges following a covert investigation spanning more than two years. Const. Kal Dosanjh was arrested Thursday in Surrey and charged with multiple offences, including fraud and theft.
Charges Against Dosanjh and Co-Accused
Dosanjh faces nine charges in total: four counts of fraud over $5,000, four counts of theft over $5,000, and one count of breach of trust by a public officer. A co-accused, Sarabjit Singh Gill, faces six charges — three counts of fraud over $5,000 and three counts of theft over $5,000.

KidsPlay Foundation at the Centre of the Investigation
Dosanjh has served with the Vancouver Police Department for decades. He is widely recognized for founding the KidsPlay Foundation, a Surrey-based charity focused on supporting children. Officers executed a search warrant at the charity’s offices on Thursday as part of the investigation.
The KidsPlay Foundation fraud allegations have drawn significant attention given Dosanjh’s prominent public profile and his long career in law enforcement. The charges mark a serious development for both the police department and the charitable organization he built.
Dosanjh Denies Wrongdoing
Through his lawyer, Dosanjh stated that he is innocent and denies committing any crimes. No further details from his legal team were immediately available.
