While some claim that any agreement between Trump and the Islamic Republic would betray the Iranian people, the truth is quite the opposite: this deal signals a major defeat for a regime that has lost its legitimacy and is retreating under pressure. This is not a triumph of diplomacy; it is the product of years of internal resistance, uprisings, sacrifices, and bloodshed by a people who refused to surrender.
The Islamic Republic is not negotiating out of strength — it is doing so because it is cornered. It stands isolated both regionally and globally, crushed under economic collapse and widespread public unrest. It has no social base left; millions have repeatedly chanted in the streets: “This regime must go.” And yet, it returns to the table — not with pride, but in desperation. That, in itself, is a victory for the Iranian people.
There are only two paths left: either the regime agrees to a deal and gradually exposes itself to international accountability, or it chooses the path of North Korea — an isolated, nuclear-armed dictatorship that tightens its grip through fear, poverty, and militarism. If no deal is made, the regime will pursue a nuclear bomb with renewed speed. And make no mistake: that will not lead to dignity or deterrence — only more sanctions, more isolation, and a darker future for the people of Iran.
Those who resist compromise in the name of “anti-regime purity” must ask themselves: what serves the people better — a weakened, retreating regime under international pressure, or an emboldened dictatorship with nuclear weapons and zero accountability?
From the 2017–2019 protests to the Women, Life, Freedom movement, it was the people — not diplomats — who forced the regime to its knees. Every drop of blood shed in the streets, every slogan cried in defiance, every act of civil disobedience has led to this moment. The regime may sign a deal, but it does so from a position of weakness, not strength.
If this agreement happens, it will not save the regime — it will accelerate its collapse. It will open cracks in the system, reduce the justification for repression, and offer breathing room to a people fighting for freedom.
