If you’re looking to learn new skills, the Toronto Public Library’s online courses offer a fantastic opportunity. Provided by Gale Courses, these programs cover a wide range of topics across 12 categories and are taught by professional instructors.
The courses are offered by Gale Courses, each led by experienced instructors and spanning six weeks. If your New Year’s resolution is to learn something new, this is the perfect chance to get started.
What’s Available to Enroll In?
A surprising number of courses are available! They are divided into 12 categories, each offering a variety of topics:

For example, under Writing and Publishing, you can explore topics like Business Writing, Creative Writing, and Grant Writing. New sessions for every course begin each month.
How to Enroll
Now that you know what’s available, it’s time to enroll—and trust me, it’s super easy.
Once you’ve chosen your course and a suitable start date, click “Enroll Now”. From there, you’ll need to create a free Gale Courses account or sign in to an existing one.
On the New Student page, you’ll be asked to enter your email address and fill in your details. You’ll also need to provide your library barcode. Simply click “Use Library Card” to complete your enrollment—that’s it!
When your course begins, you’ll be able to log in anytime to review your materials.
