The Ontario Provincial Police have recovered the body of a 35-year-old Woodstock man who drowned while saving his daughter at Port Burwell Provincial Park on Lake Erie.
Const. Ed Sanchuk confirmed on Monday that the man had gone missing in the water after pushing his daughter toward safety. Two Good Samaritans helped bring the child to shore, preventing further tragedy.
“I would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this heartbreaking event,” Sanchuk said, thanking those who aided the rescue.
The beach was closed during the search, as crews worked to recover the man’s body and bring closure to his loved ones.
