A devastating fire tore through a cottage in Tiny Township on Friday night, leaving the structure completely destroyed.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 9 p.m. after witnesses spotted flames engulfing the home on McMahan Road near Concession Road 5 West. Crews from three stations responded, with seven units battling the blaze.
Fortunately, no one was inside at the time, as the occupants were at their primary residence. However, the fire caused an estimated $310,000 in damage, reducing the cottage to rubble.
Firefighters remained on-site for several hours, working to extinguish lingering hotspots. A brush truck was stationed overnight for fire watch, ensuring no rekindling occurred.
Although fire officials have ruled the blaze accidental, the exact cause remains under investigation. Concession Road 5 West and McMahan Road, which were temporarily closed during the response, have since reopened.
