Trump Confirms Arrest

Utah Governor Spencer Cox revealed that Robinson opposed Kirk’s beliefs and admitted involvement to a family friend. Cox emphasized the political nature of the attack, calling it an assassination aimed at silencing Kirk.

Authorities identified Robinson after family members recognized surveillance images. According to officials, Robinson’s father worked with a pastor to persuade him to turn himself in. Law enforcement confirmed his identity late Thursday.

The Shooting at Utah Valley University
Kirk was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Witnesses said the attacker fired a single round from a rooftop using a high-powered rifle. The bullet struck Kirk in the neck as he addressed the crowd. He was rushed to a hospital but later died.
Video footage captured the chaos as spectators screamed and fled. The shooter escaped by leaping from a roof and vanishing into nearby woods before authorities tracked him down.

Trump called Kirk “a good person who wanted to help young people.” He also announced that Kirk would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously.
